2011 Black Friday Disappointment: Things Going Wrong ng boranan

Black Friday has not arrived yet. But many people are already disappointed by it. The air is filled with complaints. What is wrong? It is all in the Black Friday sale ads. People are stretching that most deals are more expensive than last year. Meanwhile, Kohl's is on the verge of being titled as the corporate clown. We will know why. But first let us have a preview of the complaints.

Just click the image given below. It contains complaints from different people.

The criticisms you have just witnessed come for all major stores like Target, Sears, Old Navy and Macy’s. But most unique complaints have been garnered by Kohl’s. Yes, their sale ads turned out to be disappointing. “The Kohl’s Black Friday ads make me nauseous” twitted one user. But the funniest thing is that this year Kohl’s is also getting negative publicity because of their Black Friday commercial where Rebecca Black's song was featured.
Kohl's 2011 Black Friday Commercial
Some major news sites called it annoying. Meanwhile, many viewers on twitter expressed that they would not shop at Kohl’s because of the song. You might think that it is all a sarcasm. But no, people are truly angry. Below is an example you will find under this commercial on Youtube. You can click the image.

Note that the number of dislikes surpassed the number of likes. What people are saying about the commercial? Let us have a glimpse of that also.

This goes to show that people are offended by not only Rebecca Black's song, but also by the overall theme of the commercial. Not sure why Kohl's allowed it to go on air. I don't think they took time to even review it.

Now the main question is: why are the deals looking so expensive? At the end of summer, I was reading a Wall Street Journal article. Of course, it was full of grievance on how stores in summer did not make much profit despite launching sales. But the concern was more about fall. The officials from JC Penney highlighted the rising costs. They implied that they were reluctant to offer anything at discounted prices before the end of the year. In between the article, it was mentioned that because of the rising costs and fear of loss, most stores were to have less supply of fall items. Prices were to be also raised. Perhaps, these reasons are responsible for making the Black Friday deals disappointing! But will things stay like this next year also? As mentioned in Wall Street Journal, even store officials do not have answer to it. Yet the good news is that dollar value has been going up for about a week now. It is actually a good sign for the economy.
